Monday
Ah, Monday.
The star of another week, another week closer to Christmas. An otherwise uneventful day, made exciting only by the prospect of trying out my new monitor which made me feel the shizzle, I don’t mind telling you. It made a pleasant change from the three monitor setup I had before and which really wasn’t very good, a mix of different resolutions and brightness/hue which no doubt had something to do with the feeling my eyes are getting worse.
This is what found me at the opticians on Saturday morning, 11am. Like I said, I feel my eyes have gotten worse and that it’s time for new lenses. I notice that I can’t read the satnav on the phone in the car anymore, and I often find myself taking off my glasses altogether when I’m reading a book, or even looking at my phone.
So, after the usual does this look sharper, or much the same routine come to find out my left eye has gotten +25 whatevers better, while the right eye is hanging in there at a not-to-be-sniffed at -10 change. So, that makes me net up, right, but not enough to get new glasses. I thought this was refreshingly honest; I was not looking forward to the prospect of shelling out another €600+ for new lenses, especially with all the work still to be done to the house, and now also a safari holiday to be planned.
I came away with eye drops (he reckons my eyes are a bit dry). Afterwards, lunch in town and then home in time for the football.
Today’s work was pretty dull (the new monitor not making it any less dull, just sharper. The morning was all sprint review meetings, the ones where you just have to listen and not contribute anything; the afternoon was free of meetings, so a chance to work on some changes for the tennis club website and push out the club newsletter for January and February.
I spent the afternoon listening to a few podcasts (insert) as well as taking a trip down memory lane with the House of Love, and Sleeper.
Pffff ..
I started out this evening not really knowing what to write about. But here I am, a few paragraphs of to-you meaningless drivel later, and I don’t mind telling you I’m surprised at the outpouring of words 😁. The biggest enemy of the creative types is a lack of inspiration, right? I’m not an organised blogger in that I have a list of things I want to write about. I just sort of need to start typing. Which is fine - the idea behind starting this blog was to just write for myself, not any particular audience. I just need to get back in the saddle and be happy I am writing anything at all, no matter how dull it is. Hopefully it’ll get more interesting later but for now, this is all I have for today. Go away now.
